The Project Management Unit (PMU) of Local Government and
Community Development Department (LGCDD) has developed Land
Use Plans for 159 cities, 150 towns, and 500+ villages
across 37 districts of Punjab. However, the True
transformation of cities lies in the implementation of plans
that determine their future urban form. For effective
implementation, PMU has developed the Planning Support
System (PSS)—the first of its kind—to support local bodies
and field hierarchies responsible for land use regulation
through a centralized surveillance system.
The PSS will assist planning officers in zoning decisions
through the “Automated Zoning Report” and help control
violations of approved Land Use Plans using a Geo-AI Land
Cover Change Detection System.
OUR GOALS:
PRESERVATION OF PRIME AGRICULTURE LAND
Safeguarding high-quality
agricultural
areas by restricting urban sprawl,
ensuring that prime agriculture
lands
remain dedicated to agriculture to
support food security and rural
livelihoods.
Compact development
Promoting efficient, high-density
urban
growth within designated boundaries
to
reduce infrastructure costs,
minimize
land use, and create livable urban
areas
that support walkability and public
transit.
Balanced spatial and economic growth
Fostering equitable development
across
regions by encouraging economic
activities in less developed areas,
reducing urban-rural disparities,
and
supporting regional economic
stability.
Revitalization of urban centres
Enhancing the appeal and
functionality
of city centers through
redevelopment
initiatives that support economic
activity, cultural vibrancy, and
sustainable growth.
Enhance accessibility and mobility
Improving transportation networks
and
services to ensure residents have
convenient, reliable, and inclusive
access to work, services, and
amenities.

designed to support Local
Governments in implementing Land Use
Plans through Automated Zoning
Reports.
